Ethnographic Fieldwork for Pharmaceutical Company
I was brought in as an editor on a large-scale global fieldwork project for a pharmaceutical company’s patient insights department.
The project consisted of extensive filmed interviews from several international research sites, resulting in approximately 140 hours of multilingual material. My task was to organise, synchronise, subtitle and edit the footage into internal insight films, supporting internal research and development processes. The assets included a project teaser, a short “finish this sentence” film and a series of thematic films based on the research material.
This type of work sits very naturally between my two professional backgrounds: film editing and ethnology. As an editor, I am used to shaping large amounts of footage into precise and engaging narratives. As an ethnologist and ethnographic filmmaker, I am trained to look for patterns, contradictions, lived experience and small human details inside qualitative material.
The final films were created for internal use and helped make a large and complex fieldwork study accessible across teams inside the company.
Due to confidentiality, no footage, interviews or research insights from the project can be shown.
